Here are answers to some common questions. 

  • Are there pilot deployment options before committing to a subscription?

    Yes. VigiLife is currently offering pilot deployment options through its Early Adopter Program (EAP). This gives your team exposure to the SafeGuard platform and the diversity of sensing solutions that are compatible with SafeGuard. This ensures that your team can make an informed decision about the role of SafeGuard within your team’s modernization of your health & safety programs! 

  • What is the timeframe from adoption to receiving user data and notifications?

    Team members (Users) and team leaders (Guardians) begin receiving health & safety insights and alerts after completing a few simple steps. These steps include setting up the Guardians’ SafeGuard profile, inviting Users to download and create profiles within SafeGuard, and Users starting their first SafeGuard sessions with at least one of the many sensors that are compatible with the app. 

  • Which devices (sensors and wearables) are ready to connect to SafeGuard software?

    SafeGuard is a “sensor-agnostic” software application that is designed to be compatible with many industry-leading physiological and behavior-monitoring devices on the market. VigiLife is constantly working to expand the set of compatible sensors and is supporting sensor requests from members of the Early Adopter Program. The list of current sensors is included below. Those with an asterisk (*) are currently under development for anticipated release in 2023:

  • What if my team uses sensors that are not listed as compatible with SafeGuard?

    We pride ourselves on delivering a software platform that is compatible with devices that are already used by teams and meet the health & safety monitoring needs of its customers.   • What’s the difference between Users and Guardians?

    Within the SafeGuard platform, there are two primary audience members: Users and Guardians. Users are individuals who use sensors during their activities of increased risk while Guardians are those who oversee the health and safety of specific users. Guardians and Users are the recipients of real-time alerts that are generated from the sensor data.

  • Can a User or Guardian turn on or off monitoring?

    Yes - Users maintain COMPLETE control as to when they are being monitored or not. They can even “privately” monitor without Guardian oversight like when they are doing a workout. Guardians receive alerts and notifications if User activity requires attention, but do not deactivate User monitoring individually or en masse. Users can be assigned to multiple Guardians in case a shift change requires one to switch out for another.

  • When is a User monitored?

    A User is monitored by others ONLY when they choose to start a SafeGuard Monitoring session and have that data stream to a SafeGuard Group.

  • Who is alerted with updates or incidents?

    SafeGuard is broken into Teams and Groups within Teams. Users and Guardians are assigned to specific Groups by your Team’s SafeGuard Guardian. All Guardians of a specific Group will receive health and safety alerts generated by any User within that same Group. The User must enable monitoring within SafeGuard for data to be collected and shared.

  • What types of alerts are provided to Users?

    The SafeGuard platform provides real-time, second-by-second alerting capabilities. The alerts supported are dependent upon the specific sensors used within a Team’s SafeGuarding policy. Alert categories currently include those based on potentially unsafe physiology or behaviors as well as those based on exposures to risky environments. This is based on factors such as chemicals or noise detected by the sensors. In 2023, we’re expanding alerting capabilities. Examples include real-time awareness and prediction of heat stress and long-term trends and insights of users' health and safety experiences.

  • What are examples of notifications / alerts?

    Examples of possible alerts include those triggered from the following events. Those denoted with an asterisk (*) are personalized to the individual:

    Extended periods of low motion

    Extreme heart rate for the individual*

    Exposure to adverse chemicals

    Exposure to an environment with reduced oxygen


  • Who has access to User data?

    Data is divided into three categories: 1) Real-time streaming data and 2) Historical data from prior monitoring sessions and 3) Anonymized/aggregated data compiled from Users within a Group or Team. 

    The following access rules are in place for each type of data:

    Real-time streaming data: This type of data can either be streamed into a Group  (with other Users and Guardians) or be collected privately on the User’s device.

    Private Session: Only the User has access to this session’s data.

    Group Session: While a User has an active monitoring session, Guardians of the group have access to real-time data and will receive alerts in the event they are triggered. This access immediately stops once the User stops the monitoring session.

    Historical data: After a User ends a monitoring session, two types of data are saved: 1) Time-series data and 2) Summary data. 

    Time-series data is data that includes every measurement collected and has second-by-second timestamps so that Users can review very specific aspects of their session. This data is ONLY available to Users and is stored locally on the device that was used for the monitoring session.

    Summary data is a set of data-based insights based on analysis of the time-series data. These include average minutes, maximum of various features, as well as a record of alerts and User tags. This data is BOTH stored locally on the Users device as well as stored within their account in the cloud. 

    Anonymized / Aggregated Data

    Summary data is anonymized and aggregated to provide insights to Guardians about the trends of a Group. This enables improved decision making on the health and safety measures of a Group.



  • Is each license assigned per person or can we transfer to another person?

    Like other Saas (software-as-a-service) products, SafeGuard’s pricing is based on the number of people who use the platform as either a User or a Guardian. Pricing of the platform is also dependent on the number monitoring categories required (i.e. physiological and environmental).
